Beauty queen Bella Carey has been forced to take maternity leave after the birth of her second child.
Carey told The Independent that she is still not sure when she will return to work.
“I am currently on maternity pay, which I haven’t been able to take because of a baby,” she said.
“My husband is on paternity leave and we are still in the middle of the legal process to get our kids.
I have to go back on maternity because I’m still in labour.”
Carey’s second child was born at the end of September and Carey is in the process of transferring her salary to a new employer, with her lawyer, Mark Schreiner, speaking to The Independent.
“She will be returning to work as soon as she can,” Schreiners told The Observer.
“If she does not return in the next two weeks she will be on a waiting list for maternity leave, so we are hoping to get her on maternity as soon at the latest as possible.”
Carey is the only person working in the beauty industry in the UK, earning a minimum of £16,000 a year.
The 29-year-old beauty queen first rose to fame as a contestant on the BBC beauty show Beauty and the Beast in 2015.
“After being cast in the series, I got to meet some of the girls in the show,” Carey said.
After her first season, Carey was cast as Belle in Beauty and The Beast and made a name for herself as the most beautiful woman in the universe.
“The first time I ever had to work for my own benefit was when I was working on my first baby,” Carey told the paper.
“It was such an amazing experience, the best I’ve ever had in my life.”
Carey said that she still doesn’t know when she would be able to return to working, and that she has to take some time off to make sure she does her job well.
“Every single day is a struggle, so I have been very lucky to have such a great career,” Carey added.
When you are a part of something you are the person who’s on the receiving end, the one that’s receiving the attention.”
