By Football Italian staffThis summer, Milan are set to lose one of their most successful players, Gianlucio Del Pieros.
The 26-year-old is expected to leave the Rossoneri this summer and his contract expires in the summer of 2019.
He joined the Rossos in 2011, making his debut in the Champions League, and was the first Italian to score for the club in the competition.
Del Pier, however, has been hampered by injuries throughout his career and was only part of the Rosso side that reached the Europa League final.
It is unclear how his future will play out, as he has not played for the Rossino since the final of the Europa Cup in June 2017.
While Milan have been in talks with the Juventus man over his future, they are yet to receive any response from Juventus.
Del Pieros was a regular fixture in the Milan defence in the years that he was at the club.
His contribution was always evident in his ability to keep a clean sheet, and he scored in all but four of Milan’s Europa League wins.
In all, he scored 17 goals in the group stages of the competition, making him one of the most prolific strikers in the history of Italian football.
It is expected that Milan will continue their talks with Juventus over Del Pier’s future, and Juventus may offer the Rossa an alternative.
Milan were also linked with Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho earlier this month.
The Merseysiders are also looking to sign Liverpool’s James Milner.
The former Manchester United man is out of contract in the autumn, and the Merseyside outfit are yet a few months away from signing a replacement for the midfielder, which could be Liverpool’s Milner or Liverpool’s Sakho.
